Read: Romans 8:14-15
"You have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, 'Abba! Father!'" — Romans 8:15
There's a difference between a slave who is simply let go and one who is brought into the family. God doesn't just cancel your debt and send you off to fend for yourself. He puts His own Spirit in you, crying out to Him as Father.
That changes what freedom feels like from the inside. Freedom rooted only in "no one tells me what to do" breeds anxiety — free, but alone. Freedom rooted in adoption is free and secure, because it's freedom lived inside relationship, not freedom instead of one.
Reflect: Do you tend to relate to God more like a distant authority or like "Abba, Father"? What might change if you approached Him today the way a secure child approaches a loving parent?
Prayer: Abba, Father, thank You for not just releasing me but adopting me. Help me live today not as an orphan proving my worth, but as a child who is already loved and already Yours. Amen.
