Day 2: Led by the Spirit, Not Chained to the Letter

Read: Galatians 5:16-18 · Acts 4:31 · Ephesians 5:18

"But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law." — Galatians 5:18

There's a kind of religion that trades one set of chains for another — swapping worldly bondage for a rigid, joyless rule-keeping that still isn't freedom. That's not what God offers. He offers to actually lead you, moment by moment, by His Spirit living in you.

When the early church was threatened into silence, they didn't respond with a strategy meeting. They prayed — and the room was shaken as they were filled with the Holy Spirit and "continued to speak the word of God with boldness" (Acts 4:31).

Paul's command to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) isn't a one-time event in the original language — it's continuous: keep on being filled. Liberty isn't a tank you fill once and coast on. It's a well you keep drinking from.

Reflect: Are you currently walking led by the Spirit, or running on an old encounter with God? What would it look like to ask for a fresh filling today?

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I don't want yesterday's leftovers. Fill me fresh today. Lead me — not a rulebook, not my own willpower, but You. Amen.
